It doesn't matter. Christianity, or its modern perversions, is here, and quite popular. Something must of happened in the past to get it to snowball. Obviously it wasn't Jesus. I am sure he would be out there saying Christianity is a mockery of what he said and wanted.

Well, we just have what others had to say about Roman religion, and its importance. What if it is all hooey. Religion was just some tradition one did in Rome, like crossing the Ts and dotting the Is. Most people are Christians because they were trained to be Christians, there is no thought it in, just rote learning.

I am interested in ancient Rome, but only to a certain level. As to Christianity, the early groupings of Christians, I suppose you could call then a church, what the Romans thought about Christians, it doesn't interest me at all. I just like hearing opinions which is what they are, you could call them facts, it is food for thought, ultimately not important. As far as the Egyptians, the old brown ones, they could have functioned without a Pharaoh or declaring himself, herself as a God. Same with Rome. The Romans had Kings once, they got rid of him, had a republic without some man wanting to be a God, and Octavian could have done all the things he did without declaring Julius Caesar or himself a God. I have to say whoever put those words into Jesus' mouth in the New Testament did a good job, good PR work.

Well it is believed Constantine did the Christian thing as an expediency. He wasn't a true believer. A more important point. Are we, humans, better off ethically, morally, judiciously because of Christianity and its world wide prominence?

Now, some living person has to interpret the past, and that person isn't going to be able to get into the brains and psyche of the long dead Joes. Of course he is going to do what he does. Even if some Mr Yahudi back in the days of Jesus, described and wrote about Jesus, it would be his interpretation not Jesus'

It depends. Some people can get rather annoying and boring with too much time.

No one needs history to survive. Humans survived for quite a long time in a good quality of life without a writing system, literature or written stories about the past aka history.
