A person who looks European White can have 15% sub Saharan ancestry. You cannot tell someone's ancestry just by their looks. If you can believe what is written about Sally Hemings and her white slave owner father of her children, her children looked European.

Australian Aborigines and Pacific Islanders call themselves black, and living in Australia some of the Aborigines are as dark as the darkest black Africans, the Sudanese. When I hear Black I think of Australian Aborigines not Americans or Africans or South Indians.

I guess it is the same about Hannibal who was of Berber and Levantine origin, and even Cleopatra who ruled Egypt, so she had to be a black African.

Look, I have seen a lot of dna results of North Africans and Egyptians. They do have sub Saharan ancestry, in Mozabites it's about 25%. It matters not to me, but you can expect racists to make a big deal about it. European Americans who are from the South also have sub Saharan ancestry in low percentages. Whenever people of different origins are close to each other, they will mix.

There were Punics in Sardinia. The remains of these Punics have a lot of North African ancestry, but mixed with European ancestry. They weren't particularly Middle Eastern.

It is something that most people don't know, that the name Africa comes from the North of Africa, probably a local North African name. It eventually got extended to the whole continent. Similar to the word Asia became applied to all East Eurasia. So it is ironic that the people who lived in Africa were Berbers who certain people consider not to be African but of immigrant origin because they are not chocolate brown skinned.

There are statues of Septimus Severus, and the painting of his family. So we have a good idea. There are representations of Cleopatra and Hannibal and other Carthagenians. It doesn't matter to prejudiced people as Africa means Black people to them. Augustine was from North Africa as well, so I guess he goes into the Black category to them.
2
It doesn't matter because we are dealing with prejudice, and irrational thinking. To those people, Africa means sub Saharan Africans, it doesn't matter if it is North Africa or Egypt or even NE Africa which have different origins, different hunter gatherer ancestors to West Africans who are the typical Black person to them. The more older Pygmies and KhoiSan Africans are totally ignored, as is the homogenizing effects of the Bantu speaking farmers from the Cameroons that moved to the east and south of Africa.

You can call yourself West Eurasian which is what Europeans and Middle Easterners are. But better still you could self identify as you want. Personally I don't use any of those labels and I dislike the term White or Black as they are exaggerations of actual pigmentation.
2
Well, you know that Europeans were darker before the Bronze Age, the addition of Indo-European ancestry to hunter gatherer ancestry and neolithic farmer ancestry basically made Europeans lighter especially in the north as they have more Indo-European ancestry about 50%.

Not the Irish. It is not just the USA, it is an undercurrent in most Anglophone countries about anyone who isn't or cannot pass as NW European looking. It is just about pigmentation, dark hair, dark eyes, olive skin.

Where to?

I don't know, it depends on opinion. He looks sort of golden, not dark tan which looks like the color of brown shoe polish.

I have only heard people use jackshit in Australia, but you are right and can be extended to most of the world.

North Africans are not West Asian, it is indigenous to North Africa. They do have European ancestry, how they got it, you could make a few guesses. Yes have have sub Saharan ancestry.
1
Maybe the Irish or Scandinavians, but I believe Americans consider Northern Europeans to be White, and the rest Mediterraneans like Greek.

He was a true African as the area called Africa was in NW Africa and the name was extended to the continent, so Nigerians and African Americans are sort of naturalized Africans not true born Africans.

Hannibal and Cleopatra.

I tell you something, my opinion, haplogroup E is not of African origin. Haplogroup A and B are African in origin. Haplogroup E originated in Eurasia, just as it is common in Africa, big deal, R1b, R1a originated in the Steppes between Europe and Asia, but are very common in West Europe and East Europe.

It is well known that the most of the sub Saharan ancestry in North Africa came from Arab slavery after the Islamic period.
