I would like to go to a time when some places were without human inhabitants, Mauritius before it was discovered by Europeans, so I can see an actual Dodo or New Zealand before the Maoris, maybe collect Moa feathers to make a cloak or Madagascar before the Austronesian speakers from Borneo arrived to see the wide variety of Madagascan animals like the Elephant Bird. The only other thing would be to make dictionaries of languages not known today, and to decipher the writing that remain indecipherable today.
