  1. Tea was the colloquial way of saying dinner in Australia when I was a child, I doubt it is now. If I said that to an immigrant to Australia from the Philippines or South Sudan or Canada even if they have lived in Australia for a long time, they wouldn't understand. But when I was a child, Australia was overwhelmingly British mostly English origin. A cuppa is the way of saying having a cup of tea. In a way Australians today use less slang, and people think very Australian like Paul Hogan or the late Steve Irwin are anachronisms.
