Well, he is doing that stupid thing of thinking Africa is all sub Saharan, he ignores North Africa, Egypt, NE Africa and the old people of Africa like the KhoiSan. He only thinks of Black Africa like Nigeria, Benin, Ghana, Togo, the Congo... He also thinks all Muslims are Arabians, and that people who speak Central Semitic languages are all Arabians. North Africa has had contact with sub Saharan Africa at various times in its history, but they are not Black Africans, and they share similar ancestry to Europeans like Neolithic farmers, European HGs and Steppe ancestry and thanks to Islam sub Saharan slave ancestry.

Your are right. European culture is different to that of North Africa, Egypt, the Levant, Turkey and Iran. You don't have to wander far even in Istanbul to see how foreign Turkey is to Europeans. Islam tends to produce rigid, dogmatic thinking and is backward looking. Europe is not like that except in the Middle Ages. Also people forget that most of Europe has been trodden upon by all sorts of people like Huns, Avars, Mongols, Romani and Jews and that Sicily had its indigenous tribes before the Punic and the old Greeks like the Elymians, Sicani and Sicels. An interesting question is how Arabian are the so called Arabs like the Sudanese, the Egyptians.., how Germanic are the Germans, how Slavic are the Russians and Poles. Question Italian ancestry will only lead to questions about the ancestry of other Europeans.

Too bad Mr Rabbit cannot speak decent English. From an old British viewpoint, I am not British by the way, the saying is Wogs start east of Calais. If you don't know what a Wog is, well, learn. Honestly as far as Italy is concerned, all Italians are Dagos, north, south, east and west. Even the French Corsicans are Dagoes. This nonsense about the Mezzogiorno being African or Arab does not matter, all Italians can be considered Africans and Arabs, this Northern Italian thing about being more European is fiction. Language is language, it means nothing. Italians are as a group rather ugly and unattractive, Northern Italians included. Mr Rabbit looks very foreign and can pass as Arabian, Iranian, Armenian and even Egyptian. I have been all over Italy, and I find no difference in looks, what varies is the way they use standard Italian. Naples Italian is hardly intelligible, but you can say that in any part of Italy, they have their local languages.
Veneto is a mixed region, they have a lot of South Slav ancestry. That's the point, you cannot prove being Italian by your dna as each region has its own admixture with neighboring regions, and foreign immigrants. Genetically Southern Italians don't have a lot of alien ancestry, most of their ancestry is from Neolithic farmers who are one of the three founding populations of all Europeans. Swedes are more than 40% Neolithic ancestry, Southern Italians are more like 60% Neolithic ancestry. All Italians have Steppe ancestry, it's in the 20 to 30% rate, it's one of the founders of European ancestry. Mr. Rabbit is exaggerating the effects of the Normans who were mongrels not Scandinavian but a mixture of French people. The majority of Italians have dark hair, and brown eyes, north and south, and an olive skin tone. Even Swiss Italians are dark. There is too much exaggeration about pigmentation, about alien ancestry, about the differences between north and south in Italians. You can say the same about Germans, about French people, about Poles, Italy is no different except in some people's prejudiced minds.

I consider the differences between Northern and Southern Italians are exaggerated, frankly the look similar to me. As to pigmentation, they are different from the extreme Northwest Europeans who are ruddier, are paler, and the eyes are often blue or green, the hair lighter than the browns of Italy. Most Northern Italians have dark hair, and brown eyes, and are not ruddy. True in the borderlands, people who spoke German or French or Slovenian there may be some the approximate NW Europeans in pigmentation, but even going into the countries surrounding Italy there are many of darker pigmentation. An ancient Roman would stick out today because they would be slimmer, and shorter than modern Italians. I would say the looks of Italians compared to ancient Romans, Etruscans, Samnites, Greeks and Gauls probably are quite similar, but genetically the modern Italians are shifted slightly towards the east. There was a huge number of Greek speaking immigrants to Rome and its empire from Anatolia and Syria, and most of them stayed and interbred with the old Italians. You cannot deny the dna results from the different periods of Italy. The pre Imperial Romans were like modern Central and North Italians, the Imperial Romans shifted towards Anatolia and Syria, post Imperial Italians are like Southern Italians.

Look friend, you don't have to have degrees specializing in genetics or statistics like Mr. Patterson or Mr. Krause to be able to use various programs that analyse dna results from various people around the world. Tunisians, Algerians, Moroccans, Libyans and Egyptians are part of the dna cline that goes from the Caucasus region in the north all the way south to North Africa. They are not part of the European clines. The closest group to these Caucasus people, Levantines, Anatolian Turks, Iranians, Arabians and North Africans are the Cypriots. You can pick out those people from North Africa and the east Mediterranean from Europeans as easily as those silver quarters from those of base metals.
Let's face it, most of you folks cannot tell West Eurasians apart when they are the color of Mr. Rabbit is compared to Lebanese or Syrians. They look the same to you, but their dna separates them, the sheep (Europeans) from goats (North Africans and Eastern Meds)

Well, the problem is that the Romans of the Imperial Age were the people to know, Rome the place to go, it was the center of everything. Why do you think Gauls, Huns, Langobards, Goths... went there? For the sun! Look at the USA, it's becoming less European day by day, well, that happened in Imperial Roman Italy. But one day, the Empire crashed, and the rats left for Constantinople.
