@bouchacourtthierry8506 There's a lot of variation in France in phenotype, any European would look at home in France.

I don't have a dog in this fight as I am Australian though born in Southern Europe. In Australia race isn't entered on every document from birth to tomb. My opinion is that there is a stereotype among Americans of what a European person looks like, frankly they have to look like Australians Liam Hemsworth or Cate Blanchett to be considered White Americans. The composite is okay considering the variety of phenotypes of White Americans.

Yes you are right. From my experience people who inherit no genetic markers from a specific ethnic group is because their parents' genetic markers for that ancestry was small.

Yes, but as with European Australians, European Americans do not want to identify with their non American born ancestry and culture. It's their choice. I am 100% of my ethnic group, and I don't identify with it at all.

@mississippigod3938 Not really. French people are a central European people, and Italians are Mediterranean, their ancestry isn't quite comparable. I think the testing company the woman used must not be 23andMe or AncestryDNA because she wouldn't get such a weird result. People do get unexpected results due to adoption, IVF, NPE but I guess she knows she isn't in those categories.

@Tinoeditss I don't consider North Italians special and they don't cluster with French or Spanish people but other italians.

@erichamilton3373 From when I was at 23andMe, French and Germans were lumped into the same group. What was her main ethnic ancestry on 23andMe?

@Iskatel.Priklyucheniy True, but White Americans are of mixed European origins, they are not 100% anything.
