  1. That’s so true. We’ve got a 328i F30 in the family, and any time I drive an E90 325i-330i or a straight six E39 it feels like I’m seeing an old friend again. Exactly like you said!! Who cares about 0.2 seconds in the 0-60 time when the straight six is such a musical experience. Also, another point that I like to make. Car and Driver had a long term 2006 manual 330i and they were getting 32-33 mpg at 80 mph. The F30 328i with the manual basically gets 34-35. Who CARES about such a minute difference!!!! If my first BMW experience was in a turbo 4 model I would have said they’re so overrated!

  2. William Long Oh yeah, the 8 speed automatic paired with the turbo 4 yields REALLY good fuel economy. Fuel economy with the 6 speed is only slightly better in the turbo 4 vs. the inline 6. But like you said, it’s supposed to be the ultimate driving machine! They already had decent fuel economy with wonderful sounding engines!!
