Annie working at a job for 30 years is not desperate to have a job, and secondly the employees in Orlando, Florida do not have this problem because cost of living is a fraction of California.
51
Annie no shame on the sucker who keeps working for them!
44
Victoria Rowe why should they do that? Is it Disney responsibility to insure you have a roof over your head? No! Get a better job or leave California.
22
sergejisd she put herself in that position, not disney.
19
Samantha _M. Think about what? Listen if you have a family to feed, you do what it takes, period. Go to school, work two, three jobs, or move whatever it takes to live. Working as a cashier for 30 years and barely surviving is just laziness, nothing more nothing less. Why do you 5hink Americans are leaving California by the thousands? Because cost of living is way to high.
8
Eusunt Dac these jobs are not considered career jobs, these are entry level jobs. Yet only Disney Land employees have the problem compared to Disney World in Florida where living costs are a fraction of those in California.
7
1222Tonia why should that have employee housing? This is not a pay issue it's a cost of living in California thing.
7
Claudio Santos I am very connected with reality, it is people like you who blame everyone else for their problems. If you have a job that does not allow you to live, you get a new job. It's simple! If you cannot afford the house you live in, you find another one, right? If you cannot afford your car, you sell it and find a new one. If you live in one of the most expensive parts of the country you either get a better paying job or you move to a more affordable place. These people begging for better pay only have themselves to blame not Disney. Disney employees in Florida live on their wages, why can't these liberals in California do the same? So next your going to say cashiers at McDonalds should be paid 15 dollars an hour also? I understand life happens, things happen, but you find ways to survive and you always thrive to make your life better. Why you people blame everyone else in the world is beyond me.
7
Paula Ify and it's their fundamental right to quit and find a job that pays better, or move to a place where you can afford to live. Dont blame companies for the downfall of liberal places like California, who has the highest homeless rate in the country because cost of living in the sewer of America is too high. Time to be responsible adults, get a new job, or move, stop complaining and living in a dream world.
6
OMFG another one. Listen Disney knows and expects its employees to better their position, Disney knows they are not a career long employer. You act like people do not get time off, there is time to apply and interview for jobs, that is called time management for all you smart ones out there. And a "traitor" this is a government job, its a minimum wage entry level position. They do not take any risk looking for a new job, are you that thick headed? How about they train and get education so they can move up at Disney to a better paying position? Or did you not think about that? These people are nothing more then lazy, if you wanna survive you do what it takes, including finding a new job.
5
rpl palacio hey moron! How do you have a monopoly on entertainment? Is Disney a necessity in life? No, either people stop buying their services and products or employees quit. No one said you had to work at Disney.
5
Paddle Duck they chose to make it heart breaking, simple solution get a new job and move.
5
Eusunt Dac so stop buying Disney products, stop watching their movies, stop giving them your money. Oh or quit your job and get a better paying one. Duh
4
Jacob Forbes you fail to see that Disney is not responsible for cost of living in California. These are entry level jobs intended for younger Americans, not 50 year old woman who worked there for 30 years. The bottom line liberals in California have made laws and decisions that have made the Anaheim area so expensive. Her friends think she makes 30 dollars and hour doing hair? A nurse on the east coast doesnt make 30 dollars and hour. See the problem now?
4
MICHAEL DAVIS do you own a cell phone? How many months before you replace your cell phone? Own a car? How many computers do you own? Do you need them? Dont blame capitalism for your demands in life. If it wasn't for capitalism those Disney workers would be unemployed.
3
Angel Light how much more would you like life to just hand you? Slavery is forced working for no pay, so it not slavery moron. It's simple get education find a better paying job, or move. Next your gonna want 20 dollars an hour for McDonald's cashiers.
2
Angel Light someone dropped you on your head as a child. Listen hippie socialist, come back to the real world were the rest of us live. No one works as a cashier at Disney for 30 years, be 50 years old and complain about their pay unless they are just lazy. Disney is like any entry level job, a source of work and income while you improve your position ie., education or new job. Its so ironic where all these high cost of living places are, where people cannot afford to live are progressive liberal strongholds. With their stupid wasted tax dollars for laws and programs that raise the cost of living so high that homelessness is the norm, such as LA and San Francisco. This has nothing to do with social justice for better pay, this is about not being lazy and getting yourself ahead like the rest of the world has done for a 100 years. This is all the reason why so many people are leaving California by the thousands. Disney employees in Orlando Florida do not have this problem wonder why?
2
Miki Marble well you liberals keep voting in the corrupt blue libbys who push crazy laws and have high expectations for California life raising the cost of living so high no one can afford to live. It's not Disney's fault.
2
Alonso Martii 30 years as a cashier barely above minimum wage at age 50... yes a shame.
2
Nick what part of capitalism do you not understand? Cost of living in LA and Orange county is due to those governments making ridiculous laws that cost so much to implement, driving up desires to live there along with costs. No matter how you spin it this is not a Disney problem. If disney was paying minimum wage would these people still be working there?
2
they took my brain yeah and stagnant employee base with no desire to improve themselves keeps going up. So what's your point?
2
Chrissy R everything you mention is the choice of the individual, no one if forcing them to do the work, no one is forcing them to not look for new work. They choice to live in an area where the cost of living is almost double of the rest of the country. Disney employees in Florida do not have this problem, so what does that tell you? You choice to take an entry level job, you choice to accept there wages when hired, you choice to live in one of the top most expensive places to live. Well dont cry wolf when your choices make your life more difficult. Find a new job, or find a cheaper place to live, pretty simple.
2
sergejisd nothing ever eliminates poverty, poverty is part of life, none of us live in a perfect world. But not trying to improve your position ie better paying job, moving to a more affordable place, etc., is not a social issue it's a behavioral issue.
2
Jacob Forbes OMFG where do you come from Russia? They are not homelessmbecause of their pay, they are homeless because of the ridiculous cost of living in California. Hence the mass exodus of Californians to other states. Disney World employees in Florida do not have this problem? Hmmm.
2
Find a new job! Another liberal company to join Google, Apple and the rest of the valley liberal companies who refuse to pay real wages. But the employees should quit. 30 years at Disney and you still stayed? Your fault. It's a private company they can pay as the see fit, like Youtube, eBay, Amazon, etc. QUIT.
2
hong lee stop smoking crack, it kills.

Another socialist moron

Learn how to convey what your trying to say!

Chrissy R what does any of that have to do with being homeless with a job? Your home, a home, a life is far more important then living in Orange County? Move... to a place where a good life can be had on a reasonable job. This is not Disney's problem, this is California's problem. No where besides NYC is cost of living that high. So as I said they all have two choices, get a better paying job, or move. This is not the reason people should be protesting in a capitalist society to force a private company to pay more. This would be different maybe if they only paid minimum wage, but they dont. Florida Disney employees do not have this problem, which means it's a California problem. Answer this why does California have the highest homeless rate in the entire country? Yet the majority of their homeless actually work. These people should be protesting their own states goverment not a private company.
1
no name another hippie who thinks he can solve the worlds problems. Problem not enough people think the same as you. As I have said a hundred times, this is not happening to Disney World employees in Florida. Explain that! You wanna live in the Liberal Republic of California, then expect not to be paid enough to live.
1
rpl palacio hahaha are you kidding us? Liberals are the reason why cost of living is so high in California, duh! Conservative California is reasonable to live in, look where all the crazy liberal strongholds are LA and San Francisco and the valley. The stupid laws they pass to protect Google, YouTube where they pay their employees less then Disney does. Record high homeless, and more homeless then any other place in the US. Maybe start by stopping to give away welfare and medical benefits to illegals. Maybe get the sate to raise minimum wage. California is the model and example of what happens when liberals run the government.
1
Another useless moronic comment.
1
MICHAEL DAVIS so being anti-Semitic explains the cost of living in California? Explains a lot! You racist pig.
1
CopyRightedSnake minimum wage was not created for living in a home with a family. It's a minimum that is above the lowest poverty line. Why is it it this problem is only occurring in liberal places like California and new York city? Why are cost of living so high in California and not the rest of the country? Disney World employees in Florida do have this problem, why is that?
1
Unionization is the wrong answer, Disney would simply make cuts to reduce employees and then you have 1000's unemployed. Another moron with no clue.
1
Ray Herbst there is no such thing as cannot! I have taken myself from the gutter to a decent living, you do what you need to do to survive. I have relocated for jobs irregardless of where or what my family was. There is no excuse for living in a car at 50 years old and working at an entry level job for 30 years. As I have said numerous time in this post, Disney employees in Orlando Florida do not have this problem...
