Wait a second, so the NY5 just proved these officers were innocent of any criminal charges. Why? Because yet again the NYT lets bias drive their investigation. How. The narrator says the APD tasers are capable of firing twice, Mr Brooks only fired the taser onepce, meaning he had another shot still in the taser. The officer who tried to take him with the ssme taser, attempted a dry stun which does NOT fire probes. So that means Mr Brooks was still in possession of a deadly weapon that was still loaded with one more round of darts. Thus making him an immediate threat to the officers and the public. Thank you NYT for proving these ofricers are innocent.

@madman3891 wow how are you so ignorant? A taser is a deadly weapon under Georgia state law and in many many other states. The NYT reporter even says in the video the APD tasers are capable of firing twice, which means he still had one round in the taser after he shot the police officer. The officers are innocent of any criminal acts.

First of all go back to school and learn to speak and communicate properly. The man had a deadly weapon in his hand, was drunk and on the run. You just watched a video were Mr Brooks fired a deadly weapon at the officers while running away. He was a violent felon. Who resited an arrest because he was on parole for violent felonies including beating his wife and kids. So officers just let him go, play devils advocate. Mr brooks then uses that taser to car jack someone for a vehicle. Drunk and now in possession of a vehicle, he gets in an accident running from the police and kills some innocent family. Then what? The public holds the police responible for not arresting the guy. There is no way for police to please everyone. The man shouldn't have been driving to begin with, he shouldnt have resisted arrest, and he shouldn't have stole a deadly weapon from a police officer he just assaulted. And he would still be alive. At what point do we finally start holding bad people responible for their own actions. If anyone is being arrested, why resist? The problem isn't going to go away just because you resisted arrest. You need to be more critical and use common sense here.
