Claudette J no the government's money is not the people's money. The people pay taxes, that supports government, in return politicians elected by the people decide which services and laws require attention. Maybe that's the problem down there, you think what is not yours is yours. That would explain why these children are throwing social temper tantrums.

Let me get this right! Kid is on the streets violently protesting gets shot by a rubber bullet or pellet and wonders why. Maybe you shouldn't be violently protesting. Protestors have been extremely violent against the public and police. Dont want lose an eye, don't violently protest. Pretty simple.

@buscandolaverdad6888 of the police shot violent protestors they deserve it. In fact only one journalist was hurt. They other so called journalists were just citizens with a camera, nothing identifying who or what they were. In full blown riots, which is what is happening in Chile, police must defend themselves and restore peace. Maybe if you left wing retreats would stop using violence against the majority of the country you would be getting shot with pellets and rubber bullets.

@renetorres1159 the people of your country, simply do not like to live with the decisions they have made. They all elected this current government, and a minority not happy want to force change onto the rest of your country. These protestors are mostly left wing sponsors of a democratic socialist system, and that is why these riots are progressively getting worst even rho the government is attempting to negotiate corrections. Problem is that not one person has stepped forward to organize and lead these angry people. The same situation in Hong Kong, that no organization or leadership is available to the government to sit and talk with. What do we know? We know the majority of the Chilean people are content with the current government. Ask these potential causes of these riots areask the same in Chile, Hong Kong, Iraq, etc., in that they blame the government for a bad economy, the high costs of education, corruption, and the inequality of wealth. As if other nations, even America must deal with these same issues. Your country is in a lot better shape then most other nations and the number one economy in south America, yet it still is not enough for the 2 million minority protestors destroying their city and country. They all need to grow up and get to work.

@lisbonacid with only 2 million protestors in the entire country, I do not see the left getting control in Chile. Progressive left ideologies are losing momentum throughout the world. All we can hope is that millennials grow up having a better understanding of the world and stop pushing all these socialist ideologies.

@masanzanaL you have no clue what you are taking about. Chile's economy and society have been moving forward into the future for over 15 years. Chilean violent protestors are not protesting because of the lack of progressive movement forward, they are protesting because the minority left wing is not in control. Answer this. Who elected this president? How many chileans voted for this president and fought for a democracy? Chileans get pensions, better pay then every other south American country, access to healthcare, access to higher education. Now they protest because of so called corruption which had never been proven, inequity in spreading wealth of the country, and the lack of government paid social welfare programs. Basically the left is throwing a temper tantrum because they are not in control and their is no socialism providing for them. Grow up.

But don't come in here and tell me I do not use proper sources, and I have no idea what is going on on Chile. I use many printed and visual sources for all my international news, I interpret that information and base that opinion on that information. SSI tell me then. Exactly what do I have wrong?

@masanzanaL there is no leadership or organization behind these protests which means it is nothing more then common street thugs without leadership and organization protests are pointless as they have no end goal and no one for the government to negotiate with. Rioting simply because you are tired of the government you voted for is not how life works. If your not happy with their results then vote them out the next election. Throwing a temper tantrum in the streets hurting people, destroying public and private property is not how a civilized society works, especially a democracy. You may think things are bad in Chile, but things are bad all around the world. There is income inequality everywhere, economists around the globe are in a bad place, corruption is present in every government. All things chileans are protesting for occur in every nation, yet every nation doesnt use violent protests. The violence in Chile was and is unnecessary, the same outcome could be had with worker strikes, peaceful demonstrations. Nothing in Chile right now excuses violence. Period.

They are not fighting for what the majority of those societies want, they are fighting for what the minority want. You seem to have this idea that the world is such a terrible place and that the blood of citizens must be spilled to rid the world of evil.
