@EnforcerOfficial There really is no reason to worry that NATO intervention within Ukraine - so long as NATO fores do not enter into actual russian territory - would cause the russian to launch nuclear weapons against NATO states. The reason is that russian orcs know well that doing such would - guaranteed - be the end of russia. russia will not suicide itself as long as the is expectation that russia can continue existing otherwise. Nuclear weapons are only useful for two purposes - A) deterring the destruction of a nation possessing them, and B) scaring the uninformed populace.
russia has had the ability to nuke NATO for 70+ years. All during this time russia has decided no to suicide itself. There is no reason to expect that will change.
NATO could send combat troops into Ukraine (including temporarily--occupied Crimea) and capture/destroy any russian orc they find in Ukraine, and the kremlin will conclude that:
A) they can not launch nuke, loose Ukraine and keep russia, or
B) they can launch nukes and loose both Ukraine and russia
Obviously A is the objectively better choice - there is no benefit to B.
Most likely, if NATO sent ground combat troops into Ukraine, and began advancing against russian positions, those at the contact line would just surrender, and those in the rear would flee or be withdrawn. The russia would be out of Ukraine. They would complain and threaten, but do nothing more. Then they would start begging for the sanctions to be lifted. End of story.
