However, penicillin is only effective against certain bacteria and is just one in a wide range of antibiotics that were NOT discovered by accident. There are antivirals, antibacterials, antifungals, antiparasitics. There are vaccines, hormone therapy, surgery... my dad's cancer was cured through chem therapy 15 years ago.
