I'm sorry for your loss. Although I don't make a distinction between brain and soul, I agree that there's a difference between wanting a rational answer and wanting an emotional relief. If you revisit my old comments you'll realize I wasn't advocating either approach, but said that it depends on what the person is looking for. And I assure you that it depends on the person you ask.

You obviously had bad experiances with doctors and perhaps also scientists, but I'd like to remind you that it's unwise to generalize based on a few cases. All I can say is I'm sorry that you have so little trust in science and that you can't appreciate all it has given you. I think it's important that you watch the following video: /watch?v=yhMi0tkYyT8

There's no need to be rude. What makes you think I'm cold-hearted? Is there anything I said that indicates I'm not going to comfort my loved ones in their time of need? My point was that death-bed curiosity is not an argument for a spiritual reality. It's only natural that when people face death they wish that there was something beyond.

Questions that are evoked by agony are as reasonable... as the answers that are designed to releave agony are accurate. Whether a scientist would be in better position to answer these questions than a priest or not, depends entirely on what you're looking for: relief or accuracy.

Also I don't think you should be too hard on the doctors. It's their technological approach to life that enables them to be doctors. They are there to save lives and heal the sick. Dealing with agony and grief is not their expertise.
