@andrefrbk I've been to Japan and talked to some students. I got the impression they are serious about studying because of the pressure, not only from family but also from government and companies. Eg. if you took a year off traveling and then returned to studies, or decided you switch direction in your studies, you were considered lazy and didn't get hired. I'm sure that if you were raised in such environment you'd be serious about your studies too.
