  1. Strategic enemy = Country that got stuff we want Iran would probably never had become the theocracy it is today, if GB/US had not enforced decades of autocratic puppetry. The grave dissatisfaction among the people made them easy to seduce by charismatic rebellious speakers. They celebrated as the Ayatollah took power. Years later they started realizing it wasn't exactly what they wanted, but it was too late.
