  1. As I grew up, my mother was always interested in gardening, had a greenhouse and a small field where she planted a range of vegetables and spices. This early luxory made me a bit picky about what I eat. I remember the first time I tasted carrots from the supermarket and realized that, from the taste alone I couldn't tell it was carrot. I have this fear that an effect of GMO and plant breeding is that our standards are gradually shifting to the point where everything taste about the same.
