  2. True dat. I usually phrase it like this: The ultimate solution is not in the extreme ends, but somewhere in between. With risk of sounding a bit romantic, I think we have found quite a good balance between socialism and capitalism over here in scandinavia. It's complicated and to be honest quite boring, but that doesn't take away from the fact that it seem to work quite well. It's a shame that the idea of being able to run an entire society on a few universal principles is so damn appealing.

  3. I was talking about politics and extremism in general, not specifically in the context of America. My conception of the American political environment is slightly different though. I feel that American politics is not in balance, but off balance as a cause of one side compromising while the other don't, resulting in a gradual drift towards an extreme. I'm not saying you're there yet though.
