  1. A global clock would facilitate longitudal communication, but I think it would be impractical for longitudal travellers. Imagine arriving to a new "time zone" and having to think "+9" throughout the day to get an idea of the time for daily activities. It wouldn't take long before you would simply turn your clock forward nine hours for convenience, and then we're back to time-zones.
