What he said was that he wanted his kids to be taught evolution, but implied that creationism should be presented as equally true.

***** It is ironic that you want teachers to emphasize that evolution is a scientific theory and not a scientific law, when you clearly don't know the meaning of either. Please, for your own good, read the following section: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_theory#Theories_and_laws

***** Of course, there are atheists who take evolution on faith or accept it for the wrong reasons. This is however irrelevant to the theory's accuracy. The important thing is that scientists don't. Yes, I think it would be good for children to be taught that what they learn in school is only our best effort so far and may be replaced by something more accurate in the future. However there is no point in bringing this up in conjunction with evolution as it applies to just about everything we know. This is a scientific way of thinking, to always keep your mind open for more accurate explanations.

***** You still don't understand. One is not less supported by evidence than the other. A theory may for example try to explain the behavior of a complex system. A law may explain a specific relationship within that system. Newton's Laws of Motion are for example within the Theory of Classical Mechanics. Listen, I'm not trying to shame or ridicule you. My point is just that perhaps you shouldn't have a strong opinion on a topic you know little about. If the matter is important to you, you have all the more reason to make sure you are informed before taking a stance.
