Or you could argue that men are expected NOT to wear makeup, and that an insecure man would try to do what is expected of him, while a confident man would dare to do as he please.

Based on the same reasoning, wouldn't that truly confident person also forgo eg. hair styling, shaving, staying in shape, washing stained clothes, keeping car clean, etc. (apart from the purely functional aspects ofc.)?
