On the topic of cuts, I highly recommend Mark Blyth. Essentially, large economies can't cut themselves out of a crisis, because when they cut their expenses, the whole economy shrinks and consequently so does their revenue. Household economics only works when revenue and spending are independent.

@worldadventuretravel He hasn't been very public lately, was mainly outspoken 2007 economic crisis and its aftermath. It means you can cut spending without affecting your revenue.
