  1. Calls for a "holistic perspective" seems to be a narrative designed to avoid empiricism. They want the problem to be so overwhelming that any tangible details and grounding in observation is lost in a storm of big shitty data thereby becoming subject to their personal interpretation.   2. "Intersectionality" refers to the overlapping part of a Venn diagram, i.e. the intersection between different overlapping domains. In the context of fringe left discussion, this refers specifically to the intersection between different categories which are believed to be disadvantaged in society. Example: if you are black AND woman AND lesbian you have a worse shot in life than either category alone. Yeah, they tend to make things sound more complicated than they are.
