  1. The residual radioactive material after filtering is said to be tritium (hydrogen with two neutrons). In the early 50's, the estimated total amount of tritium on Earth's surface was 3 to 4 kilograms. However, atomic bomb testing has raised this amount to something like 300 - 4000 kilograms. It would be useful to know exactly how much in total Japan plans to add to this number.
