  4. Do you mean that progress in technology will be increasingly costly compared to the gain in productivity? I think you neglect that technology itself accelerates research and development. CPU processing speed increases. Communication is accelerated. More advanced analytical tools are available. Etc. I've heard projections of the complete opposite, a vertical technological asymptote, or technological explosion, due to the feed-back benefite technology has on itself.
