I have to say, when these headlines appeared in my feed my heart started pumping like never before by news headlines. WW3 suddenly felt very real and I felt that this time there really isn't any escape. We're trapped on this planet with maniacs.

As Ray Dalio said: in times of depression, do not invest in what people want, but in what people need. Keep that in mind when you hear about massive acquisition of basic resources like farmland. This plays a major role in Ukraine war as well, much of which now belongs to Blackrock. Billionaires are bunkering up.

My reading of this is that what people really want is sovereign democracy.

I'm thinking about selling most of my stock and buy an apartment. I understand diversification, but this seems like the right move right now. Good for the nerves. I can always take a loan later to get back into stocks.

"Every time people say I am responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths I receive threats." Seems fair enough.

Debt isn't necessarily bad. It depends entirely on what the lended money is used for. Is it for building useful infrastructure? Is it for avoiding an emergency? Or is it for a destructive war or a wasteful bureaucracy? This matters a lot.

Maybe banks fear gold isn't safe in Europe.

Regarding the Obama-Oil skit. I recently listened to an Iraqi professor who argued that the Iraq war was not really about oil, it was about setting an example that would end the Westphalian world order, i.e. that each state has exclusive sovereignty over its territory. It was meant to demonstrate that USA (and UK) are sometimes justified to directly intervene in other states and reengineer their system.

"Green" energy does not necessarily mean less energy though.

@darwinjina Germanys blunder was to abandon nuclear.

Thanks for referring me to Jacob Nordangård. He seems knowledgable.

They were really desperate to vaccinate everyone because they didn't want a control group that could be used to prove side effects.

@Axiomatic75 Well, if value disappears I rather have a nice apartment I can live in than some shiny pieces of metal.

If only they'd cover Trump as excellently as they're covering their own asses.

@1charlastar1234 That's a bold prediction. See you in a few years.

Crooks using a drone to overlook the area in advance implies there was no insider helping him, because if there was, he wouldn't need drone footage. If there was, the insider would know about the security plans and inform Crooks. Right?

Thanks! I heard mixed information about the shot from the sniper unit, including that it was fired "immediately" and that it "stopped the shooter", implying shot #9. This made me confused about the much later shot #10 heard. It is incredible how difficult it is to get even the most basic information about the shooting. Based on this new information, it seems plausible that the shot from the law enforcement officer made Crooks cower and back off shortly, possibly backing out of sight from snipers. This could explain the lateness of shot #10.

Given that Crooks turned his gun at the policeman behind him (trying to get onto the roof), before turning around and shooting at Trump, I don't find it strange that he'd miss shots. He now knew he was spotted by police and didn't have many seconds to turn back towards Trump, lie down, concentrate, aim and shoot.

There seems to be a tension between providing a product that people want and hooking them up to an addictive product. Naturally a game-developer wants the game to be fun and engaging, and a food producer wants the food to taste good so customers buy it. At what point does it become "addictive" in a negative sense? Where do we draw the line?

2:25 I didn't know Fauci was so small.

@baneverything5580 Thanks for the detailed answer. Solar panels is just one source of energy though. Geothermal, hydropower, nuclear, etc. The investment cost is obviously high, but oil price also inevitably rises.

@sdrc92126 Earth absorbs about 122 PW from the sun. Global energy consumption is around 20 TW (yearly average). So we currently consume about 0.016 % of sun energy absorbed by earth. So we don't need to take energy stored in earth crust to fulfill our needs. It's just much easier.

8:50 Glad to see collaboration with Bret. I got so much respect for that guy.

"professional factchecker" means they are paid to do it.

He might not be yelling about the shooter because all his colleagues are already aware.

EU Commission recently proposed application of A.I. for detection and reporting of illegal activity online. Needless to say they're excited about application of A.I. for mass control.

@femvetusa5263 Most apartment buildings here are owned by its residents through an association.

@frederickmuhlbauer9477 That's regional. Here, high interest rates have caused prices to drop by about 10% in 2 years. Looks like a buyer's market.

To be fair, common cited dangers of misinformation are: populist strongmen (Trump), vaccine hesitancy (pandemics) and climate change denial (ecological collapse). You could argue whether these threats are real, but the fact is that their war on misinformation is propped up by several boogiemen.

So you are not entitled to a platform where you are paid to express your biased political views. Boohoo.

3:57 "Far-right" peace protestors. Riiiight.

The largest competitor of Pfizer is the human immune system.

Swedish govt made an investigation into profitability of off-shore wind power in a number of locations. In the report they concluded that it is currently not profitable in any of the locations. Environmentalists say the report is wrong, because the cost of power transmission to shore was unfairly included. They feel this cost should be financed by government. Sigh, as if government carrying part of the cost magically makes the project profitable.

The more secrets government have, the more they need to control information and discourse.

I take he's invested in oil and wants number to go up.

If the greatest threat to democracy is the election of an unsuitable president... ...doesn't that imply that the power of the president is currently too great and must be delimited to be better balanced by the other branches of government? I wonder how this idea will fly with the Biden administration.
