That 42 and 69 consistently won across the globe makes me happy.

There is an abundance of people like him. What's lacking is political will to finance their work.

No, the question was "What do you believe is the probability that the coin came up heads?". It's not asking for the general probability of the coin toss, it's asking for the likelihood of a specific tossed coin being heads, given that she has just been woken up. It's a conditional probability which may differ from 50%, no?

Excellent as usual! The only thing I'm missing is an example of a real-world application of this strategy.

Outrageous. Surely this must defy some kind of law of physics or at least code of ethics.

@neighborhoodSTD People picking 42 or 69 most likely knew it wasn't random. People picking 37 thought it was random. But in the end, neither was random.

Really great video! Went far beyond what I know.

As a helpless procrastinator, I can relate to Pierre Louis de Maupertuis. I too follow the path that minimizes the action.

Mindblow as always, bringing the wonders of physics to the masses.

"Conference of Experts to Study the Possibility of Detecting Violations of a Possible Agreement on the Suspension of Nuclear Tests" Compare that to WEF 2020: "Stakeholders for a cohesive and sustainable world"

Thank you! I've been really skeptic about this. Great to have the story in full detail.

I guessed C. Hello fellow dummies!

This really seems like something that will play an important role in our future.

What an inspiring story, despite the world being cruel to inventors.

Thank you so much for the beautiful visualization of the wavefunction and the concept of quantum entanglement. Helped to demystify the whole thing a bit.

So sad to hear that he has to defend his work, while studying the behavior of a substance that's all around us.

5:55 "Yeet!"

I heard somewhere that one potential application of analogue computers could be neurons in general AI machines.
1
That's profound.

Much appreciated follow-up!

"What on earth is this for?" Water covers 70.8% of its surface. Glaciers cover 10% of its land and seasonal snow another 9%. Waters is up to 3% of its atmosphere.

7:05 Am I stupid or is this completely wrong? Electrons move through the wire, not through the battery, right? Otherwise it would short itself?
1
Wow, I did not know that essentially all deuterium was made in big bang. Blew my mind! :o

This is where math loses me.

6:23 The robot sounds like the ambience out of a horror movie. Lucky for us it's covered up by warm Spanish guitar licks.
1
Yeah, but it is interesting to explore whether there is something about the numerical qualities of 37 that make humans feel it is more random than other numbers. It would be interesting if human intuition or heuristics regarding randomness takes such aspects into account, at least in an approximate way.

Veritasium makes me realize, once again, that I don't really know the things I thought I knew. Makes life a whole lot more exciting!
1
Seems like you can use this type of robot for something dirty.
