"whoever gives the BEST SERVICE at the MOST COMPETITIVE PRICE is the company that reigns superior" This assumes well informed and perfectly rational agents. How close to reality is that? The way products are advertised should be a good indicator of how the masses decide what product to buy. Do companies market their products using the quantitative data they use internally to compare themselves to competitors? No, most products are advertised by appealing to our irrational sides, our private insecurities and desires. Products are advertised by making associations with being highly regarded among peers, with success in career/family/love/life/sex, etc. Do I need to tell you that this is often not what the products deliver?

Yeah, public education is for sure keeping people in the rags. Except the opposite is true.

"Other countries are becoming more market oriented than the US. The US still stands as the one place where you really really have the ability to be upwardly mobile." By what measure? Certainly not by intergenerational income elasticity (the tendency of people to stay in the income class of their parents). Perhaps her definition of upward mobility is the opportunity for already successful people to accumulate wealth. Success is rewarded, no questions asked. EDIT: Oh, the aspects she conveniently care about are social status and the dignity to human labor. I wouldn't call that upward mobility.

I think you're oversimplifying. It matters how taxes are spent.
