  1. I think Dave could have done a better job of trying to understand the point of view of some of the audience members and address the topics they brought up, but considering the poor articulation and all the distractions aimed at him I'm sure I wouldn't have done any better in his shoes.

  2. I think this is a symptom of ideas having been left unchallenged for too long. It is easy to grow intellectually lazy when you only talk to people you agree with. I believe there was a time when the left was able to articulate good arguments and were equipped to counter arguments of the right. This is today rare.

  3. Shauday Smith Another response could be "I don't know", not pretending to have all the answers. Showing humility can promote discussion by signaling that you have not finished learning.
