However, taxation or regulation isn't necessarily punishing success, it may merely reduce the magnitude of the reward. Moreover, there is the problem of monopoly, where capitalists focus on sabotaging their competitors rather than to offer more attractive products at lower price. The free market alone does not necessarily provide the best outcome. The state can be used to set up the rules of the game such as to promote competition and productive outcome in the market.
