He then refers to Putin saying that the fall of USSR was tragic and begins to speculate about Putin's intentions based on what he thinks he knows about Putin's psychology and character. So which way is it Pierce, are we going to trust his words or observe his actions?

  13. I'm disappointed John never got to explain that you don't have to trust Putin's words because a lot of what he said can be independently verified. For example, several important people who took part in the peace negotioations with Russia from Ukraine's side has verified that the only thing missing were the signatures, and that Zelensky suddenly changed his mind and halted the process indefinitely after a meeting with Boris Johnsson.

  14. ​ @JeffPar50  Mearsheimer's argument is that Russia sees the Ukraine issue as existential, meaning they will exhaust all options before letting Ukraine become a NATO member or US military base. This is not only the perspective of Putin, but of the entire Russian elite. So the closer Ukraine is to victory, the closer Russia is to fire the first nuke. Why would they dare apply nuclear weapons? Because Ukraine does not have nuclear weapons, and they don't believe that it is in the interest of other nuclear armed nations to expose themselves to existential risk by retaliating on Ukraine's behalf.
