  2. Regarding Earth's shape, you have to remember that earth's surface is 71% ocean, which will naturally redistribute over the surface until there is balance between gravity and centripetal force. Any departure from this balance is unstable and will naturally "self-heal". This is of course a simplification, neglecting geological activity, tectonics, weather dynamics, gravity of the moon and other celestial objects, megnetic field, etc.
