It seemed to make the argument that dictators like Hitler and Mussolini did not cease power but rose with popular support. The implication was that democracies must be shielded by the state against Fascism by preventing "dangerous" popular political movements. This self-contradictory view (defend democracy by violating its core principles) is now prevalent throughout the western world, excusing censor, persecution of journalists and political opponents, surveillance and increased instruments of control. People need to wake up.
