Opinion regarding NATO membership seem to have shifted very swiftly in years 2013-2014. Crimea was annexed in Feb 2014. Was there another event in 2013 that may have shifted the opinion, or was it the build-up of tensions in Russia-Ukraine relations that caused worry?

@elchinpirbabayev5757 I'm not that well read about the history of thr Night's Watch, but weren't most of their castles along the wall abandoned due to insufficient personnel and resources? I interpreted that as them losing relevance during "summer". During early books a lot of people question the existence of the threats they defend against, dismissing it as myth.
