  1. While using unnecessarily complicated language, I think Eric Weinstein's description of the problem is probably more accurate. He says that the "distributed idea suppression complex" is interfering with our "sense-making apparatus". With idea suppression complex he means something like the collection of mechanisms preventing the spread of good ideas, such as cancel culture, media bias, censor, taboo, career incentives, etc.

  2. I don't think "common sense" is any less wishy-washy than "centrism". It seems to be a lazy way of avoiding a proper description of the problem.
