The smugness of win-win: "You worked 60% of your life for my profit, yes, but I also gave you a banana in return. See, we both won!"

Joe often prides himself in not attaching himself to ideas and being happy to admit when he's wrong. Clearly this does not apply to his ideas about diet. John Mackey says repeatedly that cutting out processed foods and eating meat may also leads to reversal of heart disease, but so far, studies have only shown that this works when also cutting the meat. Joe keeps beating up a strawman.

I feel like the Scandinavian (Swedish) model is being somewhat misrepresented by John. It is true it was more socialistic and has become more free market oriented, but I'd argue that it has maintained a good deal of egalitarianism. "Free" health care and education is still a thing. Unions still play a significant role, keeping lowest salaries decent. It is still a quite common belief that the state is not necessarily in contradiction with freedom, but can be used to promote freedom by redistribution of opportunity and helping people get out of pitfalls. The narrative that Sweden tried socism, crashed, and is now capitalist, rings false. It would be more accurate to say it has tried both and now seeks a balance. It tries to have the best of both.
