  1. It seems Brendan has fallen into the trap of arguing against the easiest targets he can find, ignoring the more rational, nuanced and balanced voices in their ranks. He seems to argue against "the myopic young people in Europe", whoever that is.

  2. Brendan makes the argument that Israel had no choice but to respond with military action against Gaza after Hamas attack. I'll say it again: Terrorism uses spectacular violence to provoke a predictable impulsive reaction. Now, what kind of reaction did Hamas hope to provoke by their attack on Israel and its civilian population? Did they expect anything different than how Israel responded to their prior attacks? There is no doubt that the goal was to provoke a military reaction against Gaza. Why would they want that? Escalation. So, by responding to the attack with a counter-offensive against Gaza, Israel is doing exactly what Hamas wanted them to do. They are letting themselves be manipulated. How wise is that do you think? Israel always has a choice. They don't need to act on their emotions.
