Surprisingly no. Infantry has, aside of certain specific cases like D-Day, the highest chance of survival of all the weapon types. Consistent through the wars, your chances of survival are highest as an infantryman. A highly contributing factor to this is that infantry has the highest chance of someone actually helping you if you get wounded. Blood loss is the number one cause of death on the battlefield (yes, unlike what you see in war movies, the vast majority of wounds is not immediately lethal). And your chance to get medical care if you're wounded is simply highest as an infantrist. The lowest survival chance in WW2 among allied soldiers were those of the bomber crews by the way. Bomber crews "only" had to fly (IIRC) something akin to 35 sorties before they were sent back home. Sounds like a great deal, doesn't it? Only a select few really made it that far, though.
