@tonywilson6338 That strategy isn't sustainable. It would maybe work for the USA who have more resources than they can spend, but Russia doesn't have that luxury. Artillery only shoots if they have shells. And Russia is having a bit of problem delivering them in the amount required. That's why their advance is creeping, at best, retreating, at worst.

Why does Putin want his to take it? 8 months of grinding Russian bones and they didn't even take it. This really is embarrassing for the Russian army. Can't even take a pile of rubble.

@tonywilson6338 The problem is that Putin basically tied his claim to success to taking Bakhmut. So he can't just back down and say "to hell with it, who gives a damn about the rubble?". He pretty much said we're gonna take this town, no matter what, so backing down would be seen as some kind of failure. And failure isn't really something that sits well with Russia. Twice so since, well, the whole shitshow has been nothing but one failure after another.
