  9. They are. In a military context, running out of something doesn't mean you don't have any of that resource anymore. Germany in WW2 had tanks until the very end, just not enough anymore to use them in a strategically relevant way. And Russia is facing the same problem with missiles. What we should be seeing is Russia supporting its attempts to gain ground near Bakhmut with targeted missile attacks. What we see is artillery and rocket artillery, but no high precision attacks with ground-ground missiles. The reason is that there is a relevant shortage of these weapons. If they had them, they would use them. What they instead do is use what's left of their (rather imprecise) ground-ground rocketry in highly propagandized attacks on infrastructure. The reason for this is fairly simple, these things can be pre-programmed and don't need adjustments on the spot (which would be necessary to use them against mobile military targets), which is simply not possible with this kind of missiles.

  16. Helicopters generally are in flat areas. They're not exactly fast, they're not really quiet and their main strength of hugging the hills only works if you have any hills about.

  20. @JZ's BFF I'm pretty sure Zelenskiy doesn't want more than Ukraine in the borders of 2014. Plus Russia footing the repair bill for the havok they caused. The power vacuum isn't so much a problem, China fills that role quite nicely, the more interesting question is the stability of Russia and the countries where it's propping up puppet dictators like Belarus. Another aspect is that Russia has been sponsoring conservative parties all over Europe to make them more "friendly" towards the interests of Russia. It should be interesting to see what happens when Russia stops funding them, and of course the question arises what happens once, not if, this flow of money becomes public knowledge. It already shows its first cracks, like when it became known that Russia funded a few new power plants in Hungary...

  21.  @georgedanilov8898  Well, I have to say, the pictures of downed pilots we see, these people are really frightingly old, not a single face younger than 40 and most of them look like they're pushing 60. That's not exactly what you'd expect to see in an active fighter pilot.

  31. Putin will not end this war. Putin knows that as soon as this war ends, his end has come too. The only way Russia can be saved is if someone is brave enough to oust him and end it. Putin will ride this for as long as he is allowed to. He knows his fate is sealed if Russia loses this war, so he will drag Russia and its people down with him into the abyss if they don't stop him.
