Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, the world is watching. We see what is going on in Iran, in China, in Russia. We sit here and we wish we could do something. What can we do? How can we help you? How can we hit those regimes without causing more trouble to the people suffering from them?

People worldwide do. Look around what's going on. There have been protests in Iran. There have been protests in China. And don't let anyone tell you anything, this is not just about some petty localized problems. Protests in China are not just about Covid lockdowns. Protests in Iran are not just because the police killed one woman. These protests are against the whole oppression the regimes put onto their populations. You can only keep the lid on the pressure cooker for so long, but if you keep turning up the heat, at some point you only have the choice to either lift it or risk the explosion. That explosion may happen any time now.

Same effect as shaking the coke bottle and then opening the cap. Until you open it, you won't see a lot despite a LOT of pressure in the bottle, but if you dare to open it, prepare for a mess.

The right to bear arms means little anymore. Essentially, you're bringing assault rifles to a drone fight.

@taranis6009 Afghanistan is a very different beast. You can't win a war against someone whose victory condition is "you lose, no matter what happens to me". Not quite the same with Russia. Russia needs to win to survive. Afghanistan didn't, all they had to play for is that the US (or, earlier, Russia) loses.

Sure. Because if people don't want to be oppressed, America must be the one pulling the strings. Guess what, people can have the idea to get rid of oppressive regimes all by themselves, nobody needs to tell them that. Yes, China can do something like that all by itself.

Please apologize to gay people, they certainly wouldn't want to be associated with ... well, this guy.

A government that does not have the interests of its citizens as its highest priority is not worthy of existing.
1
And then what? What do you think that right to bear arms means with today's weapons? It means jack. What do you think your government will do if they really want to oppress you? Come with the marines to storm your fortress? They'll send a bunch of drones to snuff you out. You won't even see what hits you before it's all over. You're bringing rifles to a drone fight, buddy.
1
Really? You were dragged out of a protest, beaten and arrested, held without trial for days and finally sentenced to a few years of gulag for daring to speak your mind? How barbaric!
1
You already did. Guns mean jack. You think you still had them if your government thought you pose a threat wtih them?
1
@taranis6009 Posting from the gulag or how do you think that's even remotely the same? Melodrama much?
1
You'd really bring assault rifles to a drone fight? Why do you think you still have the 2nd amendment? You really think you'd still have that right if your government thought you could actually pose a threat with it?

The "lockdowns" around here were never remotely like what the Chinese are dealing with. You could not impose that kind of lockdown in a free country. They're literally locking people up in their home. You leave your house, you get arrested. Emergency exists are being locked for residentals apartments so people can't "flee". You better have stockpiles of food at home because no shops are open. You can't buy anything. This is what "lockdown" means in China. Not "wear a mask when you go shopping".
1
The main difference I see is that people here are still free and not sent off to a Gulag for daring to speak their mind.

@taranis6009 You might want to elaborate what you could say that ends you up in jail.
