  1. The most painful one are the last two, mostly because they were the easiest to avoid. Both, Soyus I and Challenger, were mostly due to political pressure, real or perceived, with Soyus, as stated, had to be flown because it was supposed to happen on Lenin's Brithday, Challenger happened because Reagan was about to hold a speech on TV and wanted to include the Shuttle mission in it. Fuck politics, getting in the way of science and costing lives unnecessarily!
