  2. I was about to say that. My German grandfather told me about the time. He wasn't a big supporter of the whole Nazi crap, but that's what they were told. Until the end. Everyone is trying to assault poor little Germany, everyone is out to get them so they have to defend themselves because if they don't strike first, the enemy (who invariably hates Germany for their new prosperity) will come and take it away from them. That was the story from 1939 to 1945. If we don't strike first on Poland, they'll attack Königsberg. If we don't strike first at France, they will take the Saarland. If we don't strike first at Russia, Russia is gonna roll over Germany.

  3. I have high hopes for young Russia. Russia is a very rich country. It has vast resources. It has a very capable population, willing to work hard and endure any hardship. If it can finally get rid of the crippling corruption that keeps it down, it will take over the world's economy. So far the west is lucky that Russia is being held back by its corrupt leadership. Next generation will send the corrupt leadership to hell. With a bit of luck, Ukraine war will be for Russia what WW2 was for Germany. A decisive defeat that showed that the future is not in military but in economic power.

  4. It's kinda sad that all the old Soviet jokes about Russia work again. Like this one: Q: Is there freedom of speech in Russia? A: In principle, yes. There may just not be a lot of freedom after speech. Or this one: A young lad saves Putin's live. Asked what he would wish for he answers "a state funeral". Putin asks "A state funeral? You're planning far ahead, you're still so young!" "Not that far", the young lad replies, "what do you think the people are gonna do to me when they learn I saved your life?"
