  1. To answer your question, no. It would NOT have been better to disband NATO because democracy & Russia are not a good fit. Russia has NO tradition of self rule, Russia no tradition of Magna Carta, of a man's home is his castle; Russia has a tradition a thousand years old of serfdom, of doing full prostrations upon the ground if the czar's carriage rolled by: Russia was ALWAYS going to turn cruel & autocratic, they were PINING for the return of a STALIN figure. Peter the Great tortured his son to DEATH; that's how they roll, they admire cruelty & torturous behavior in their autocratic leaders.
