This makes no sense. If missing out on certain 'intrinsic values of real life' ( 3:48 ) would be (in the end) a disadvantage to someone, it was not a 'pleasure' in the first place. When you think about it: There are no 'intrinsic values of life', only subjective preferences. Imagine something evil like murdering children or something useless like counting grains of sand on the beach was an 'intrinsic value of life' ... it would be dangerous and/or silly to state it as an 'intrinsic value'. The things that we think of as 'intrinsic values of life' are always just a subjective preference in the end. About the example with the love triangle: Of course it would be better for Betsy to remain in the dark. But in reality this is not an option: There is always a risk that Betsy might know the truth by herself. So it's better to tell Betsy to prevent the affaire to continue for years until she finds out. Also: when you as Betsy's friend tell Betsy about this love triangle, it might be painful in the short term, but in the long term you show you are a reliable friend which in the end will pay off for both Betsy and you.
