  13. I cut grass as a side job in my neighborhood and we dont use blowers because they are so loud and annoying. We use brooms and we do a beautiful job, you dont need those darn blowers.

  24. Never knew any other way. I would never have a stranger in my house to clean and I like to know exactly what goes in my meals. I have eaten at a restaurant no more than 5 times in a decade and that was business meetings.

  25. Most neighborhoods dont have HOAs, also you dont have to pay taxes on your house if you live in an area with Homestead Exemption.

I'm not going to overpay for a property that was over 50% cheaper a few years ago. Thats an EXTREME example and not representative of the entire real estate market, especially in small towns. Im not saying its in good shape but there are deals to be had even today.

  32.  @aao449  Most Americans dont live in neighborhoods with HOAs and most counties offer Homestead Exemption so they arent paying taxes on the house they live in.

  38.  @BrianButterworth-s4z  First of that area is not that safe, its surrounded by sketchy areas. Your daughter probably lives on a nice block but go around the corner and its basically the projects. Thats how the uptown part of NO is, I lived their a decade ago before I wised up and moved to a suburb. Second I own properties around NO so I have to hire people to repair stuff all the time. The ones I have in sketchier neighborhoods are more difficult to get work done for obvious reasons.

  42.  @NoDaysOff-oz2zl  Most people learn how to do the repairs themselves because of that. DIY is a great way to avoid labor costs and you also learn a valuable skill. Its a win/win.
