  2. This fixation about GDP is particularly very strident lately. Instead the govt should concentrate on equality and eradication of poverty rather than trying to impress with numbers about the privileged. You only have to go around the country to realise how far behind the country is as far as basic amenities is concerned as well as the standard of living. With 1500 million people the planners shouldn't be spoiled for choice; depends on what your priorities are.
