  1. you cannot just switch your defense partner just like that.....It takes time. The current government is trying to diversify arms import.....It was all Russian only back then......WE need Russian support for the maintenance of our military equipments.....And then theres the budget constraints. We are not a rich country either and we have two hostile nuclear powered nations on either side and all China's boot lickers sdurrounding us. Literally every country except maybe Bangladesh is under China's thumb.They're not going away and if we lose Russia as an ally that'll pose a bigger threat on our sovereignty. Also India needs that oil like yesterday. Too many mouths to feed and just know our MSME's kick started after the devastating pandemic. Oil prices would hinder the economy and so getting that cheap oil is paramount......
