I'm glad Styx brought this news story up because it seems to me a strange turning point, but Styx has left me more confused than usual. I thought the Holodomor had to do with the Turkish genocide of Christians, I think in Albania? Now I read on wiki it had to do with a lack of grain which led to mass starvation in Ukraine, and it's contested whether it was man made (weather involved) or done on purpose. Well, key point to take away is that De Santis mandated May 7th for this Victims of Communism Day in Florida. I'm just getting a weird back-to-McCarthy-Era vibe and back to attempted Communist purges. It didn't work back then, and I can only imagine disaster now for the nation. It definitely is a Machevellian move, but Communists don't go around wearing signs on their backs. It isn't De Santis who thought this up, but his handlers. The same handlers Trump had. Though it's good to learn a little history -- if only to fact check lies and exaggerations -- still I don't like the looks of this.

That's exactly true.

Has DeSantis started blacklisting yet? Did he start with Disney?

But the Fascists are known to be the Right.

That's not true. Some people just don't hold to rigid and regressive views.

Seems we've been through this shortage of baby formula before. It feels faked to me. Like just something to give FOX News something else to blame on the Dems.

While the Roman Catholicism of President Joe Biden is lauded in some media circles and debated in others, DeSantis’ faith is hardly mentioned in press coverage of this recent "Don't Say Gay" bill or of his work in general. And guess what book his handlers gave him to read. No, not the Bible. I know, but don't want to say. But the Religious fanatics know what book I am referring to.

@johnlansing2902 - Here it is, the movie I saw! Bitter Harvest is a 2017 period romantic-drama film set in Soviet Ukraine in the early 1930s. The film is the first English language feature film depicting Ukraine's 1932/33 famine known as the Holodomor, a period of massive famines that killed millions of mostly ethnic Ukrainians. The film stars Max Irons,Samantha Barks, Barry Pepper, Tamer Hassan, Lucy Brown and Terence Stamp. If you haven't seen it, it's really interesting.

Why did you leave out how many people Fascism killed?

I'm no Communist, but if there are Romanians that attest to Communist life, maybe something about Communism works. Just saying.

Come on, man, it's the hallmark of the Right.

From what I can see, Capitalism never gave a damn about the people or their employees. That's why unions had to come about. I'm no fan of unions, but I can see both sides.

Interesting comment. I remember the School of the Americas coming up many years ago when I first was looking into conspiracy theories. Very interesting name change too. RFK Jr. huh? Catholic, of course, but was more on the liberal side. Wasn't an out-and-out Religious Fanatic. Founder of the Waterkeeper Alliance -- environmental. In other words, RFK Jr. (and maybe the rest of the Kennedys) would all be classified by the Right as Communists (like the Right seems to classify all liberals). "Z"

@craxd1 -- Interesting. I can see Carter's point though, if he was thinking there's too much meddling and tampering in the affairs of other nations and wanted to thin out the CIA. If this was the idea. The CIA has been covertly meddling in a lot of South America (and I suppose Central America too), and often making a mess of things. Then the CIA covertly orcastrates a Right-wing Fascist regime to take over those unstable countries. The CIA finding other ways to fund itself? Do you mean by organizing private security firms like Blackwater, who later changed its name so many times I can't remember a one. "Xe" was its second manifestation. Now get this: Xe and "Z" have the same sound. Get it? You know a good movie to watch about the CIA, a comedy by Joel and Ethan Cohen called Burn After Reading. Funny as hell.

Yes, but only idiots enjoy being downtrodden peasants by the Aristocracy, which is why Bolshevism came about.

@rebeccagarrett7111 -- Frightened that men in white coats are coming for you with electroshock therapy and a padded cell? You're a little teched in the head , as they say.

On the MSN, Arby's employees somewhere are protesting for a higher wage in this here times of deep inflation. Claims of not being able to make ends meet.

Some say the famine had to do with the weather. There's disagreement here.

@johnlansing2902 -- Oh, I remember now. Something to do with the farmers not wanting to turn over their crops to the collective.

@johnlansing2902 - I saw a foreign film with subtitles about this, but I can't think of the name. Shown on Turner Classic Movies late one night before the war in Ukraine. About just this subject. Could well have been set in Ukraine. It really gave me chills how Communist Party people are. They wanted the crops and livestock and tried to make the farmers feel guilty for not wanting to help feed their fellow countrymen. And yet these farmers were dirt poor enough themselves, scraping by to make a living. I think, before the Party, the farmers were able to sell their crops to the cities. It was a fascinating movie.
