  2. If I were the event coordinator for this event, I would open with a screening of the well known 1951 movie with Alastair Sim A Christmas Carol  (called Scrooge in Britian). This would get everyone in the spirit of the thing. Then Simon would come on giving his talk.

I was subbed to a channel that went around showing how beautifully the pubs are decked out, inside and out! On the link it says you write Western cowboy type novels? Just like in the well known 1949 film The Third Man that centres on American Holly Martins (Joseph Cotten), who is a writer of Western cowboy novels! A tour of the Dickens House Museum would be memorable, along with a few stops mentioned in the novels or particular to Charles himself, then a stop at one of nice pubs finely decked out for Christmas would be in order. And a screening beforehand of the 1951 version of Scrooge with Alistair Sim, the very best version of the novel. In fact, the speaking engagement could make for AN ENTIRE WEEKEND EVENT!!! TA DA !!! I also would plan a Huge Surprise up my sleeve, but I shan't say here what that would be ! 😎 But it would be HUGE, I guarantee you!
