  1. It's not even the repair the companies are worries about. Take and old Apple product with a very simple fault into a Apple store, and they'll tell you it'll cost so much to repair, you might as well buy a new one. Then take it to a third party, who'll repair it for next to nothing.

  2. Switches? Burners? BBQs don't have these things. Sounds like what you had was an outdoor stove. BBQs run on wood, coal and coke. If you're BBQ uses gas, then you're not BBQing, you're just cooking outside.
